The end of the lunar year is here and I believe it is a good opportunity if you have some time to do a full review of the year about to close.
Taking the time to reflect and review your year and ask yourself some questions:
- How did it go?
- What can I learn from this year ?
- What can I bring with me into the future from this year?
- What did I create? How has my life changed?
- How have I changed?
- And how do I want next year to be?
Don’t skip this review, even if the year hasn’t been as successful as you wanted.
We often disregard the years where we didn’t accomplish ‘much’ as unimportant, and I want to offer that you did create a lot of results and that you want to lean in and be aware of what actions have created the results you have – both if they were wanted or unwanted results.
Everything you can learn from what you have done makes it so important.
Each year, we have the opportunity to cycle through the exact same life or evolve and grow. If you don’t live consciously and deliberately and focus on what you want and who you want to be, you will, by default, just rinse and repeat your life because that is what your brain is programmed to do. Your brain wants to be efficient. It likes to be comfortable and think familiar thoughts.
The desires you have matter. They are important maps to where you could be headed.
Sometimes, we think our desires are unimportant and too much. But honoring those desires without judging them leads to deeper accomplishment and deeper knowledge of yourself.
Pick one area of your life that represents the most change or growth you had this year. Examples of areas are:
- Personal development
- Physical health,
- Work & contribution,
- Family & relationships
- Physical Environment
- Hobbies & Freetime
As you review any area, write down everything you created—good or bad. What thoughts created the results you got last year? What thoughts will you entertain this year to get different results?
